This is a high-profile streetscape and utility undergrounding project in West Hollywood. The project consists of roadway and parkway improvements, new curb and gutter, median curbs, curb extensions, sidewalks, traffic signal and IRWL construction, new fiber optics systems, new EV charging systems, landscape and irrigation, new street furniture, and other appurtenant work. Thorough coordination with adjacent projects and utility companies has been paramount in keeping workflow, despite undesirable weather impacts. Additionally, emphasis has been placed on public outreach to minimize disturbances and maintain good rapport with the prominent businesses along Melrose Avenue.

The Melrose Avenue Streetscape project is a ‘Complete Streets’ Caltrans-defined project that is designed, operated, and maintained to provide safe mobility for all users, including bicyclists, pedestrians, transit vehicles, trucks, and motorists, appropriate to the function and context of the community. Every complete street is designed according to its context, community preferences, the types of road users, and their needs.

Berg’s scope of work includes constructability review of the 90% plans, specifications and cost estimate, and full construction management services including utility relocation oversight, management of project construction, inspection, public outreach, and materials testing.
